In this hands-on workshop with Katie Kirsch, inspired by IDEO, an award-winning global innovation firm, and the ‘Stanford d. School’, we’ll explore a simple 5-step framework for applying a design mindset to your entrepreneurial venture—from more deeply understanding your users’ needs to rapidly building, prototyping, and testing your ideas in the real world. You’ll leave this session with an initial set of design frameworks, tools, and resources that can equip you and your startup team to think differently and more creatively about what’s possible.

About Katie Kirsch
Katie is a designer, engineer, and social entrepreneur. After earning a Product Design Engineering degree from Stanford, she spent three years at IDEO in a mix of marketing, business strategy, and product development roles. Along the way, Katie co-founded a nonprofit, empowering girls to step up as leaders of social change through design thinking. Over the past five years, she and her team have launched a 14-week-long cross-country road trip for girls’ empowerment, physical and digital teaching toolkits, training programs, and a summer camp, collectively reaching hundreds of educators and thousands of girls across 15 countries. Now Katie works at Designer Fund, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm that invests in design-driven founders and startups.
